A Matter of Balance Volunteer Coaches
A Matter of Balance has been specifically designed to help seniors 60 and older reduce their fear of falling and increase activity levels. Many older adults who develop this fear often limit their activities, which can result in physical weakness, making the risk of falling even greater. Activities are conducted in two-hour sessions once a week over an eight-week period.
The success and popularity of this program has resulted in a call for volunteers to become coaches for A Matter of Balance. Coach training is conducted in one eight- hour session and two sessions of observation by a master trainer. Volunteers are then able to co-coach A Matter of Balance for seniors in their community.
