Public Information Requests
The Texas Public Information Act (formerly the Texas Open Records Act) Chapter 552, Texas Government Code, establishes requirements for governmental bodies to respond to written requests for access and/or reproduction of public information. The Texas Public Information Act does not require governmental bodies to create new information, perform legal research, or to answer questions. The request must ask for records or information already in existence. Please be advised there may be a charge for copies of public information in accordance with state law.
